Climactic

CLIMACTIC

42 million years ago

Or so

Two flies got caught

In amber

Whilst caught in each other

And in something

Unplanned

A tiny grand window

Into the sins

Of ancient creatures

Sticky with desire

Now permanently frozen

Forever on fire

In gold

Threaded wire legs

Hold eternity

Wrapped in each other

Where time knows

No intersection

Prehistoric lovers

In connection with the divine

Buzzing

A silent timbre

Beyond time

A whole universe

Made sublime

We can hold it in our hand

But who has eyes

Wide enough

To understand

The glory of the flies

In their never-ending story
