The Threat of Song

_JF, Front, B&W_0309

What words form this lexicon

Where you were here but

You are gone

The threat of song

The spoken cry

The voice that fails itself

As the feeling swells to rise

Dying alive

In the throat

And so the song

Becomes the words you wrote

In the middle of the night

Right there in your palm

A lonely psalm

You are my constant instrument

The way I find what cannot be found

The way I sing what has no sound

But your name

This silence

A flame that hums its longing

That only came to belong somewhere

You are

Somewhere you are

Gone

This is my threat

The threat of song

Rising in the throat
