We were devastated to learn only recently that our dear friend Francine Wheeler and her husband, David Cole Wheeler, were among the parents who lost a child at Sandy Hook – sweet, extraordinary Benjamin Wheeler.
Before Francine moved to CT, we had the pleasure of making music with her. She sings “Reason to Forgive” on Covered, and appeared with us in a “Live at the Loft” concert in 2005. Her eldest, Nate, came with her that evening – he was three at the time – and Benjamin was born the following year.
In memory of Benjamin Wheeler, we will now donate funds from the sale of all OP merchandise in 2013 to The Ben Wheeler Fund in addition to The American Red Cross.
The Wheelers and other Newtown parents who have suffered this unbearable loss have just launched an initiative called The Sandy Hook Promise, and are asking people to sign their pledge. We encourage you to sign. We have.
